I feel completely, unescribably sick. After 2 tours in Iraq and soon to be 3, I find a beast like this saying such awfull things about myself and my brothers. Who is he to say these things? Who is he to call me an idiot? That puny excuse for a man is a simple coward. A coward that hides behind his rights and freedoms that are secured and protected by the service members.
He makes no real sence. He is just sad that he cannot be a REAL MAN, and stand to fight those who mean to bring harm to his country. I proudly fight in Iraq because, I know that these terrorists want more than anything to come back to the USA, Britain, Spain, Germany, Israel, Russia, France, ect. And do horribly acts. And I know this because I have been there! I didn't watch it on the news and make an oppinion based on what some other person said! I know these terrorists want to come here, for those we have captured have said it to me!
I wish more than anything to keep this fight against Islamic Terrorists on Islamic soil! This fight belongs there, not here. It is their hatred that we are fighting, their hatred for everything that we hold sacred. I know this enemy, I have fought them, and I have SURVIVED! I hope nothing bad happenes to this guy at all. No violence. No payback. No vengance whatsoever by any of our troops or their supporters.
I want him to live a long healthy life. I want him to die old, really really old like 110 years or more.
I want him to know every moment of the rest of his life that the freedoms he enjoys are bought and paid for by me, and the rest of the vets and active duty military this country is blessed to have.
I want him to live the rest of his life knowing that the whole world knew he was a bona fide grade A 100% asshat.
And that despite his personal feelings, opinions, or whatever mental defect he may or may not have, that NOT ONE OF US would ever give him the satisfaction of laying a finger on him, despite every justification he might give us. I would not sink to the level of this scumsucking moron by doing anything whatsoever to him because of his comments.
Given the chance to save his life I would do it in a heartbeat just to have the satisfaction of knowing he owed me a greater debt than he does now.
Just knowing that every moment of his life that he lives in freedom is owed to me and my fellow vets/active duty and how much that rankles him is payment enough. Let him stew in the fact that we can do a job he is incapable of doing himself and that he can't do a damn thing about it except live with it.
Yes we aren't paid nearly what we are worth. Maybe one day that will change. Maybe one day we will be taken care of the way we take care of this country we are proud of and blessed to live in. Maybe one day we won't even need a military anymore because people will learn to put aside their differences and live in peace.
But this guy will always be a loser. Nothing will ever change that.

I came from a country, where a dictator ran the country for almost 3 decades. Where clean water was not a right, it was for the priviledged. Where the average person lives in shanty's or possibly worst, just under a tree. Where destruction of private property everyday is evident on how the local/state/or federal governments have no control over the crime that runs rampant throughout the whole country, because the government itself is corrupted. I served in the NAVY 4 years, and they were the best times of my life, I wished I could have stayed longer, but I got injured during a drill package training and was medically discharged. My two daughters are alive and well-taken care of right now, because of what this country can provide for them. I'm not some out of work ex-sailor, who receives free money from the government. I used the G.I. Bill that I got in the navy and put myself to school as a nurse. and now I'm providing for them. you people make me sick, if you are so tired of this country, then get out, in fact go where i came from (philippines), yeah that's right the philippines. live there for the rest of your life, let see how long you can survive. I would say 3 months and you would come crying to the american embassy to take you home.

I am a wife of an United States Army Soldier and I am pissed that my husband is fighting for dumb asses like this Michael; however, I am proud and honored that my husband is also fighting for those who use their freedoms responsibly and also think about things before openning their mouths. being a former milirary man, I actually agree with some of his ideas. It's too bad they only invited him on the show to beriddle him and never gave him a chance to speak. Most young men and women join the military these days soly for the education and benefits that go along with it. 90% of them could care less about defending the country anymore. Sad but true, it is all about the money and benefits.
Lower the benefits and pay, and you will cut out some of these people and make the military more what it should be, Citizens willing to fight for their country adn what they believe in, rather than young adults looking to make some cash and get college paid for.

Let us recognize that emotional responses will get you nowhere. Just take it in and move on. The typical things you could say about this person have all ready been said by many others. My husband is a soldier and I am proud of him and everything that he has done. I have been with him through deployments and I have seen how it effects him on a personal basis. For this man to say those generalized comments about men in the military obviously he doesn't know anyone personally in the military. It takes a truely speical person to serve. First of all, this idiot is too young to have enough sense to come out of the rain, doesn't have the slightest clue about ANYTHING to do with the military, and certainly doesn't remember Viet Nam. His comment that US soldiers have been killing others since 1832 is ludicrous -- all wars after Viet Nam were volunteer forces but prior to and during Viet Nam were draftees. They didn't "choose" to be soldiers, they were drafted. Next, the volunteer forces of today are not stupid or ignorant for the most part. Most of them are young men and women who join to serve their countries, finance their educations, and find a structural way to "grow up" to be responsible adults. Hannity and Colmes either misunderstood this moron's stance on the pay structure or chose to drive home to him that today's military is way underpaid. It *appears* they misunderstood him because they kept hammering him with the fact that the miitary is underpaid and that his fight for better benefits should be with the governmental structures in place that make the decisions regarding pay and benefits. They appeared to completely miss the fact that this slimeball feels the military is overpaid. He referred to their college benefits as "educational bribery" and made the statement "most military people couldn't make it in the real world". What a dick! The job my friends perform in the military which are also performed in the "real world" are paid at grossly less than real world salaries even if you add in the military benefits. I know of one man in particular who left the AF as a Major making $60K/year including benefits, and does the exact same job in the civilian world for well over $100K. Any of you who know much about paying taxes know that once you have paid Social Security taxes on $100K of income, you do not pay anymore that year. My ex-Major friend stops paying taxes in September each year so he has have already earned $100K by September. That's something to think about. My husband in the military grosses, including benefits, $45K/year but his same exact job in the civilian world starts at $87,500. He stays in because it is where he feels he needs to be; because he has already been in for 23 years; because he likes the area of the country we live in; and because it is the right thing to do for him. Neither he nor I agree with the war in Iraq but the military of today does not choose which battles it fights, just as draftees did not choose. The only difference is that today's military is volunteer and not drafted. If men and women no longer volunteered, we'd be back to the draft and the level of the military would decrease. Most civilians do not realize this but to get into the Marines, you must not only pass the entrance test, but you have to pass with a 94 or higher. The AF requires at least a 92, the Navy requires an 88, and unfortunately the Army, at last glance, required only a 75. If you can't pass the test, you can't go in. Once a draft is passed, all people chosen will go -- IQs of anything above 70 will be allowed in. Under 70 puts you in line for disability benefits for being so low IQ. I think its funny that you people are "agreeing" with Crook simply because "He was a brave man to go up there and state his opinion. And all you meanies are saying that you hate him, so I agree with him."
But, to address some things I have read.
I would say that almost 50% of the military enlisted because of the education and monetary oppritunities. not a "half of a percent." Yet, does this make them any less brave? That they would lay their lives on the line so that they could get an education? So that they can feed their wife and kids? As countless of vets have stated "when youre out there fighting, youre not fighting for home, country, or your flag... youre fighting for your friends, and for yourself to stay alive."
So who are we (by 'we' i mean citizens, not soldiers,as soldiers are higher than citizens.) to say that the men and women are wrong to serve in the Military... for any reason.

I think this guy makes a few valid points. Or at least reveals Hannity to be an idiot. Maybe it's the hypocrisy of simultaneously defending freedom of speech while attacking others for saying whatever they want. I just thought I would drop a brief line here and consider a few things.
1) The rest of the world hates us because most americans have like an 8th grade reading level, and their thoughts on the web typically consist of angry rantings colored with expletives.
2) I don't agree with the war in Iraq, but I hold nothing against the soldiers who are over there, righting the good fight and all of that. They are just following Orders.
3) I strongly disagree with the torture of prisoners we americans have taken. I would have thought our men and women better than that. I can sympathise with their hate, bitterness and need for vengance, but don't take it out on everyone.
4) I have multiple friends in the armed forces, and according to them, the work isn't too difficult, so the ten times as hard a work as fighting for freedom line holds no weight. For reference, one is a Ranger, one is a naval underwater welder, and one works in Research and Development in Army intel.
5) As for this guy, I have a lot of respect for his courage in going on national television and stating his opinion. I don't agree with the opinion that he has, and I'll leave it lay at that. However, I don't much care for the heavyset man interviewing him, he isn't a lawyer, this isn't a courtroom and he had little right to not let the man express his opinion. I conceed the fact that our Armed Forces give me the right to freedom of speech, but I'll be damned if some fat guy pulls me onto CNN for a publicity stunt and tells me to shut up, and goes through a televised defemation of character and slander campaign on me while I sit back and say nothing.

WOW! I have seen some stupid things in my day but some of the things I am seeing on this site take the cake. First of all, I will state for the record that I don't consider myself left or right. I don't agree with the way the interview was conducted. What I WILL say is that I have seen this guy's website. He doesn't deserve to voice his opinion. On Monday evening, the webmaster of Forsake The Troops was brutally assaulted by two men, thought to be members of the military, in response to their opinions about this website. Mr. Crook had been the target of numerous death threats and trespassers at his residence. All of these threats were saved and have been turned over to the authorities.
